Cumberland Farms Launches Mobile Cash Card

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Cumberland Farms is launching a new mobile cash card that will allow customers to pay for their purchases by scanning their smartphones at the cash register, according to a Boston Globe report.

"It's our mission to elevate our customers' experience by delivering speed, ease and convenience," said Cumberland Farms President Ari Haseotes.

To use the mobile cash card, which will reportedly work with iPhones, Droids, BlackBerrys and other devices, customers must purchase a traditional Cumberland Farms cash card, then download a free smartphone app from Card Star. After entering or scanning their personal cash card number, their smartphone will become a Cumberland Farms mobile cash card that they can scan for payment.
