Cumberland Farms Offers Free Coffee on New Year's Eve

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- This New Year's Eve, from 5 p.m. Dec. 31, 2009, until 5 a.m. Jan. 1, 2010, all Cumberland Farms locations will offer free hot Farmhouse Blend coffee for the third year in a row, the company reported.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Association reported a spike in auto accidents during this holiday. A combination of caffeine and naps is one of the best ways to help fight drowsiness, a leading cause of accidents, according to the group.

"We encourage drivers to have fun and stay safe and alert this holiday season," said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms. "Offering free coffee on New Year's Eve is one way for us to let our customers know we care about them."

The free coffee is available at all Cumberland Farms stores across the Northeast and Florida except for those with Dunkin' Donuts service.

In other Cumberland Farms news, the company kicked off the grand re-opening of its newest convenience store in Williamstown, and is holding a fundraiser to benefit the Williamstown Food Pantry. The company will donate 20 cents from every ChillZone beverage and cup of coffee sold at the store to the help those in need for the holiday season. The goal is to raise at least $1,000 for the pantry.

Cumberland Farms rebuilt the store at 446 Main Street after suffering a devastating fire this summer, and the new store is built with the latest Cumberland Farms design, the company reported. From a wide variety of sandwiches that can be toasted on site, to thick chocolate milkshakes, flatbread breakfast sandwiches and personal pepperoni pizzas, the new menu is squarely focused on fresh food, and is steeped in the company's farm-family heritage, the company stated.

"We love Williamstown and are pleased to open our doors here again," said Haseotes.
