Delta Sonic Development Gets Off the Ground

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- After years of delays and prolonged debate, ground has officially been broken on what will be the flagship operation for Delta Sonic Car Wash, reported the Buffalo Business Journal.

Delta Sonic, a subsidiary of Benderson Development Co., broke ground Friday morning on its state-of-the-art car wash and convenience store operation at 1264 Main St. The facility will serve as Delta Sonic's training center for its network of car washes and convenience stores.

The new facility will replace and expand upon an existing Delta Sonic operation that has been at that location for decades. The expanded operation will create 40 new jobs and generate $250,000 in additional property tax revenues.

Delta Sonic's plans, several years in the works, were delayed when neighbors objected to the company's proposal. Delta Sonic, as part of the plan, acquired the former Mid-City Furniture building and demolished the structure. Mid-City moved to a new location elsewhere on Main Street.

After addressing the neighborhood concerns, Delta Sonic received city approval for the project earlier this year, clearing the way for the expansion.
