Diamond Foods 100-Calorie Packs

Diamond Foods will add a line of Emerald snack nuts in 100-calorie serving packs in January 2009, which are being offered to retailers now for pre-ordering to ensure national availability in the new year, the company stated. The new 100-calorie packs are available in four varieties—Natural Almonds, Natural Walnuts & Almonds, Cocoa Roast Almonds and Dry Roasted Almonds—are a source of iron and protein, and are free of trans fats, according to the company. Cocoa Roast Almonds are roasted with a baked-on cocoa flavor for a mess-free dark chocolate taste without added guilt, while Natural Walnuts & Almonds combine the heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids found naturally in walnuts with the protein, iron and Vitamin E found in almonds, the company stated. Natural Almonds are a sodium-free snack rich in Vitamin E, magnesium and fiber, while the Dry Roasted Almonds contain antioxidants, vitamin E and calcium, according to the company. Each 100-calorie pack contains approximately 0.6-ounces of Emerald nuts and are sold in boxes of seven for a suggested retail price of $3.69.
