Dollar General Moves Into Three New States
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General Corp. continues to grow its reach across the United States, boosting its footprint to 43 states. The retailer reached the milestone with new locations in Oregon, Maine and Rhode Island.
Dollar General opened two news stores in each state: Winston and Brookings, Ore.; Lewiston and North Berwick, Maine; and Tiverton and Cranston, R.I. It announced the move into these states this past June, as CSNews Online previously reported.
"It's very exciting to move into these new states and grow the Dollar General brand. We continue to be focused on sustainable growth and doing what we do best, which is serving our customers with everyday low prices, convenience and exceptional value," said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. "Increasing Dollar General's footprint in these states gives us a presence and opens further growth opportunities in both the northeast and pacific northwest where we see tremendous growth potential for Dollar General."
Stores in Maine and Rhode Island will be served by its Bethel, Pa., distribution center that opened in May and Oregon stores plan to be served by its Lebec, Calif., distribution center that opened in April 2012.
Goodlettsville-based Dollar General operates more than 11,700 stores in 43 states.
