Famima!! Opens 12th U.S. Store

TORRANCE, Calif. -- Famima!!, the U.S. division of Japan's FamilyMart convenience store chain, has opened its second, upscale c-store in downtown Los Angeles, and its 12th store -- all in California.

The Japanese-owned chain, which offers everything from sushi to Panini sandwiches to magazines, opened at 525 W. Sixth St. in the Pacific Center, according to Los Angeles Downtown News. The store will be open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Famima!! opened its first downtown L.A. store last October on Figueroa Street, close to the Staples Center. At the time, Famima Corp. president and CEO Shiro Inoue said, "With over 150,000 people working downtown every day and many more always coming to visit L.A., the downtown Famima!! store will target working professionals by offering them a variety of healthy and gourmet snacks, drinks and everyday items with quality, quick customer service."

Since opening its inaugural store in West Hollywood, Calif. in July 2005, Famima!! has kept close to its original plan of opening new stores in nearby communities. The retailer currently operates stores in Santa Monica, Culver City, Glendale, Hollywood, Long Beach, Pasadena (2), Torrance, West Hollywood, and Westwood, in addition to the two downtown L.A. locations.

Famima!! specializes in freshly-prepared packaged gourmet meals, including salads, sushi, panini, sandwiches, dim sum, deli, hot soup, freshly-baked breads and desserts, organic gourmet coffee and assorted hot and cold drinks.
