FDA to Host Next Installment of Deeming Rule Webinars

SILVER SPRING, Md. — With roughly a month to go before the deeming rule goes into effect, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues its efforts to educate the tobacco industry on the upcoming changes.

The agency will host its next installment in a series of webinars on the latest tobacco regulations for small manufacturers, importers and vape shops that manufacture or import newly regulated tobacco products on July 13. The live question-and-answer webinar will give attendees the opportunity to ask questions on how the deeming rule will affect their business.

The deeming rule was finalized in early May and will go into effect on Aug. 8. Long in the works, the deeming rule expands the FDA's regulatory authority to all tobacco products including electronic cigarettes, cigars, hookah tobacco and pipe tobacco, as CSNews Online previously reported.

In addition to the webinar series, the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products also established a deeming rule landing page with information and resources. A list of the FDA's tobacco compliance webinars can be found here.
