Ferrara Pan Honored With New Product Award

TAMPA, Fla. -- Chewy Lemonhead & Friends won the National Confectionery Sales Association's 2009 New Product Award in the non-chocolate category. Chosen from hundreds of new product nominations, Chewy Lemonhead & Friends was selected for its great taste, originality, and authentic fruit flavors.

NCSA launched its New Product Awards program at its 2009 Annual Meeting, in conjunction with the Candy Hall of Fame ceremonies. Buyers, brokers and manufacturers nominated their favorite seasonal, chocolate, non-chocolate, premium/gourmet, snack and licensed/limited edition items, which were reviewed by a panel of industry leaders who selected a winner in each category.

"The winning products represent the best of the candy and snack industry," said NCSA Executive Director Steve Forster. "New products are vital to the confectionery business, and we are proud to honor these leading companies with awards and recognize their dedication to research and innovation."

Ferrara Pan accepted the award, which included a crystal trophy, in front of more than 270 leaders in the industry, colleagues, family and friends during the Candy Hall of Fame banquet at the Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza here.

"Our company prides itself on our continued innovation and ability to bring outstanding products and new ideas to our consumers," explained Salvatore Ferrara II, president and CEO of Ferrara Pan Candy Co. "We are thrilled to be recognized and honored alongside several of the top candy and snack companies in the country."

Chewy Lemonhead & Friends is offered in a variety of pack types, including peg bags, theater boxes, and count good boxes. It remains the No. 1 item in Ferrara Pan's 25-cent line.
