Flying J Opens Two Plazas

OGDEN, Utah -- Flying J Inc., opened two of its travel plazas in Dodge City, Kan. and Dothan, Ala., last week.

The Kansas location was previously known as the Hitching Post. The new plaza features five diesel lanes and six gas/RV lanes for travelers, and can fit 32 vehicles in its paved spaces and an additional 30 in unpaved spaces. Four private showers, a driver's lounge and a theater room offer comforts for drivers on long trips. In addition, a Country Market Restaurant and Buffet seats 118 guests for meals 24 hours a day.

"The excitement in the community at the ribbon cutting was great. The attendance was one of the largest I've seen," said district manager, Greg Yakish. "They have welcomed us very warmly."

Another Flying J travel plaza, located in Dothan, Ala., opened for business last week. The 18-acre property offers 120 truck parking spaces, 70 diesel and 12 gas/RV pumps. Inside, the plaza offers a financial service center, nine showers and a Country Market restaurant that seats 108. In addition, a convenience store, a Pepperoni's Pizza quick-serve restaurant and a Magic Dragon quick-serve Chinese restaurant offers travelers additional food options.

"The opportunity to be part of a wonderful company coupled with our commitment to attract, recruit and retain the highest quality customer service associates; guarantees that Flying J will prove to be one of the most valuable additions to our local community," said David J. King, general manager of the Dothan Travel Plaza. "My excitement to embark in this venture will directly foster into a fun, positive and energetic atmosphere that any customer or team member would be proud to be part of."
