Flying J, Shell Canada To Open Co-Branded Travel Plaza

CALGARY, Alberta -- Ogden, Utah-based Flying J Inc. has partnered with oil and gas company Shell Canada Limited to open their first co-branded travel plaza in western Canada next Tuesday.

The travel plaza location, the first Flying J site in Canada offering Shell branded gasoline, is located on the Yellowhead Highway, a major trans-Canada transportation route for Canadian travelers. The facility marks the fourth Flying J Travel Plaza to open in Canada, for a network total of 169 travel plazas and fuel stops in North America.

Employing 110 people, the new plaza has a full-service Country Market Restaurant & Buffet, a fast food court and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The Country Market Store & More offers merchandise including limited edition artwork, handmade quilts and stained glass creations.

The plaza also features a theater-style drivers' lounge, private phone booths, laundry facilities, electronically locked shower rooms, fax and copy services, Web stations and bank and postal services.

A second co-branded site is underway in Calgary and expected to open in January 2006. Previous Flying J openings have led to the creation of a road transportation hub, increasing business for all players nearby to the travel plaza.
