Foodservice Vendors Donate To Kids

Hot Stuff Foods has announced the national launching of Hot Stuff Warm Hearts Kids' Charities for all of its operators, franchisees and licensees. The program -- an umbrella for all of Hot Stuff Foods' community and charitable activities -- is focused on improving the health and welfare of children, said company chairman and president Des Hague.

Most notable of the company's activities is the Hot Stuff Foods Charity Golf Challenge, now in its 11th year, which has raised nearly $2 million for the Children's Home Society, a non-profit organization that provides a home, school and therapy for children with emotional and behavior problems, as well as an emergency shelter and counseling services for women and children who are victims of domestic abuse.

"We are finding that we have a great number of our operators share our passion for giving back to their communities and their children," Hague said. "What we want to do with our Hot Stuff Warm Hearts Kids' Charities program is help them expand their efforts and impact in their own communities."

The program is being introduced immediately, complete with marketing tools and campaigns that operators can utilize in their own communities. Hot Stuff Foods franchises and/or licenses its branded food concepts in over 1,600 locations throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

Additionally, Ruiz Foods' Ruiz 4 Kids has awarded a record $100,000 through 134 scholarships to high school seniors and current college students. The money, raised from the 21st Annual Ruiz Invitational Golf Tournament, brings the total raised by Ruiz 4 Kids since 1990 to over $1 million, the company announced.

Ruiz 4 Kids, a non-profit organization founded in 1990, began when a group of Ruiz team members came together to raise money to help a fellow team member and their ill child. Since then, Ruiz 4 Kids has remained a tool by which to focus on helping children.

"We are thrilled that Ruiz 4 Kids was able to award such a large number of scholarships this year to such deserving students," said Susan Manuel, Executive Director, Ruiz 4 Kids. "These scholarships are awarded to those who demonstrate excellence not only academically, but within their community as well. No doubt, these youth are our future leaders."

Ruiz Foods is a family-held corporation, dedicated to premium quality, authentically prepared frozen Mexican foods, which sells to all channels of distribution including retail, convenience store, clubs, vending, industrial and foodservice.
