Gate Petroleum Continues NE Florida Push

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Gate Petroleum Co. continues to grow its footprint in northeast Florida with plans for a Gate Food Store in southwest Jacksonville.

According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, the convenience store will open at the Collins Crossing development, which will be anchored by a Walmart location. It will be at least the fifth new area Gate c-store and gas station under development in the past year.

Other new Gate locations in the area include one near the St. Johns Town Center in East Baymeadows; a replacement store along Emerson Street; and one at the World Commerce Center along International Golf Parkway in St. Johns County.

In addition, Gate plans another convenience store along Philips Highway in Bayard, but Gate does not have a development or construction schedule for that project, the report added.

Gate's newest site-development plans filed with the city detail a 5,980-square-foot convenience store with 11 fueling stations on slightly more than two acres. CPH Inc. is the civil engineer, and Ebert Norman Brady Architects is the architect.

Jacksonville-based Gate Petroleum has 73 stores in five states: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina. The company has 41 convenience stores in Northeast Florida and 32 in Duval County.
