GetGo Stores Test DVD Kiosks

PITTSBURGH -- Giant Eagle here is testing Redbox DVD kiosks at five of its GetGo convenience store locations around its Pittsburgh home base starting this month, reported Progressive Grocer, sister publication to Convenience Store News.

If the test goes well, Giant Eagle will add kiosks to stores in other markets, the report stated.

The GetGo test expands the presence of Redbox in the c-store category, while introducing more consumers to the $1 per night price point, according to Redbox.

"We are very pleased to test Redbox DVD rental kiosks and make such a convenient service available to our customers," Giant Eagle vice president of fuel and c-store operations, Dan Pastor told KioskMarketplace.com. "The quick self-service transactions and $1-per-night price make a perfect fit for customers' on-the-go lifestyles."

Giant Eagle operates 115 GetGo c-stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland.

Redbox kiosks are now in more than 1,800 locations nationwide, including McDonald's and grocery chains Albertsons and Giant Eagle.
