Grand Opening Set for 7-Eleven's First Vietnam Store

IRVING, Texas — A familiar convenience store banner will soon make its official debut in Vietnam.

Seven System Viet Nam JSC (SSV), a master franchisee of 7-Eleven Inc., is cutting the ribbon on the store at the Saigon Trade Center in Ho Chi Minh City — the country's first 7-Eleven — on Thursday, June 15.

The 1,800-square-foot convenience store will carry roughly 2,000 products that are both typical of 7-Eleven stores and special to the Vietnam market. Customers will find 7-Eleven favorites like Slurpee drinks, 7 Select private brand snacks and more than 100 local fresh food items.

The location's fresh food offering will include Vietnamese, Western and other Asian lunch-box meals such as a tomato-based meatball stew, popular in the country. The 7-Eleven will also carry Banh mi sandwiches popular around the globe, Xoi sticky rice, Che dessert puddings, Bo la lot leaf-wrapped beef, and Banh cuon, filled crepe-like rice cakes.

The location, which will be open 24 hours a day seven days a week, will feature indoor seating, bill pay services, ATMs and free Wi-Fi. It will also accept mobile payments.

"We worked closely with SSV and our parent company Seven-Eleven Japan to ensure we are providing the neighborhood with the products they expect from 7-Eleven across the globe as well as local favorites," said Ena Williams, 7-Eleven senior vice president and head of International.

According to the retailer, 7-Eleven's mission is to give customers what they want, when, where and how they want it around the world. SSV's launch in Vietnam continues that mission and will deliver on "Everyday Quality and Convenience" by letting Vietnam citizens experience fresh convenience while providing the highest standard of services.

Initially, the store will be operated by SSV, but it is expected to be franchised in the future. The Saigon Trade Center store is the first of many 7-Eleven stores planned for Vietnam. With Vietnam, 7-Eleven now has stores in 19 countries.

In June 2015, the convenience retailer signed a master franchise agreement with SSV to develop and operate 7-Eleven convenience stores in Vietnam. It marked the company's first expansion into the Pacific Rim since 7-Eleven entered Indonesia in 2009, as CSNews Online previously reported.

Based in Irving, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 62,000 stores in 19 countries, including 10,900 in North America.
