Harris Teeter Lowers Prices in Charlotte, Asheville Markets

Harnessing efficiencies gained from its new parent owner, The Kroger Co., Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter kicked off a new lower price campaign in the greater Charlotte, Asheville and Hendersonville, N.C., markets.

“Over the years, our customers have asked us to lower our prices, and we’ve listened,” said Catherine Becker, communication manager for Harris Teeter, whose new price program “is the big change our shoppers have been asking for. Through our recent merger, we have achieved better efficiencies and have chosen to re-invest those savings into, among other things, lower prices for our customers.”

“This is an exciting time for our company,” continued Becker. “We’re pleased to continue to strengthen our relationship with our shoppers through this new lower price program, and we look forward to introducing it in additional markets, as well.”

Harris Teeter is lowering the price on thousands of popular products, including grocery, organic and perishable items. Customers in the greater Charlotte area and Asheville markets will also begin to notice new shelf tags and signage which will highlight those savings.

Examples include:

  • Nature Valley Granola Bars - now $2.65 each; customers save 80 cents each
  • Oscar Mayer Deli Shaved Lunchmeat- now $3.79 each; customers save $1 each
  • Hot House Tomatoes – now $1.49/pound; customers save $1.50/pound
  • Rotisserie Chicken* – now $5.99 each; customers save $1 each (*$4.99 on Sundays)

Harris Teeter will remain focused on delivering excellent customer service and quality products, along with other promotional activities such as VIC, e-VIC, super double coupons and double manufacturers’ coupons up to 99 cents every day, which will not be impacted by the New Lower Price campaign.

With 230 locations, Harris Teeter now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co.
