Heineken's Day of Giving

ORLANDO -- This week, Heineken USA employees joined with its wholesaler, Schenck Distributing, to kick off their annual conference in a special way.

Conference-goers donated a day of work to the Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit resort in Kissimmee, Fla. that provides cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

"Our decision to participate in a ‘day of giving’ reflects what we stand for as a company and the compassion and dedication of our employees -- we care about the communities where we live and work, and where our products are enjoyed," Chris Steffanci, senior vice president of sales for Heineken USA said in a release.

The volunteers focused their efforts on behind-the-scenes projects like painting, landscaping, cleaning venues and sanitizing toys, which will help to provide a safer and more pleasant retreat for visiting families.

In addition to the organization’s physical labor, Heineken USA contributed $10,000 to support Give Kids The World’s ongoing efforts.

During it’s 22-year history, Give Kids The World Village provided more than 93,000 families from across the world with weeklong vacations, including accommodations, tickets to local theme parks, meals, and more. Also, 93 cents of every dollar raised by the organization goes toward the program.
