Hess Truck Tradition Rolls On
NEW YORK – The Hess Toy Truck will be back and “better than ever” for the 2014 holiday season. But the era of purchasing the toy truck in retail stores is about to end.
Despite an announcement yesterday that Hess Corp.’s retail division will be purchased by Speedway LLC parent Marathon Petroleum Corp. for $2.8 billion, the New York City-based oil company confirmed it will produce a 2014 Hess Toy Truck to be sold at its convenience stores throughout the Northeast and Southeast.
The 2014 toy truck will also mark Hess’ 50th anniversary edition of the popular holiday item.
2014 will mark the last time customers can buy the Hess Toy Truck in its retail stores, however. According to Hess, it intends to sell its toy truck online only at www.hesstoytruck.com beginning next year.
