BALTIMORE — As health care costs continue to rise, High’s is striving to ensure that nearly 250 part-time employees are not without options.

Starting next week, the convenience store operator will begin offering health insurance benefits to part-time employees. The move comes in the wake of many companies dropping benefits for such company team members.

Employees will have access to an affordable health care plan, subsidized by the company, that includes:

  • Free unlimited Teladoc visits;
  • Free preventative care services;
  • Free primary care physician visits; and
  • Discounted prescriptions.

Employees will have the options for individual coverage, employee and spousal, employee and child coverage, as well as family coverage.

"High’s of Baltimore strives to offer its employees the best benefits in the industry. We value our employees and want them to grow with us!" commented Katie Alford, human resources manager.

In 1928, the High's brand was established, with its ice cream store chain growing rapidly to more than 500 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic states. In 2012, Carroll Independent Fuel Co. acquired High's, which today operates 47 c-stores run by a team of 500 individuals.
