Hooper Oil Finds Silver Lining
Hooper Oil Co., operator of five Quick Stop convenience stores, opened its second co-branded unit is less than a year with a full-service Long John Silver's restaurant.
Chain President David Hooper Jr. previously converted a non-branded delicatessen food operation at a similar facility in Brownsville, Tenn. to the Long John Silver's menu, which then set a record within the Long John Silver system for a c-store food operations. He said the new unit would be even bigger.
"We will have seating for 24 persons inside the Long John Silver's Restaurant space, which is a 'bumpout' or 'bolt-on' restaurant concept, meaning the restaurant facility is adjacent to the petroleum and c-store space," Hooper said. "We have two pay-points to provide fast, efficient services for gas, c-store or restaurant customers."
The unit includes a Baskin Robbins kiosk for dessert. The entire facility is 5,000 square feet. Hooper Oil, which also serves as an ExxonMobil jobber, said it is exploring the possibility of adding branded fast food to its remaining c-stores.
