Huck's to Add Wi-Fi Hot Spots
PLANTATION, Fla. - Martin & Bayley Inc., which is based in Carmi, Ill. and operates more than 150 Huck's Food & Fuel stores in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky, has signed a deal with Plantation, Fla.-based Transnet Wireless to establish a network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots in its stores.
Transnet Wireless will place the Hot Spot equipment in the stores at no cost to Martin & Bayley; the c-store operator will pay for the hardware, maintenance and monthly Internet connection fees, and will profit from usage fees. Martin & Bayley will also receive a percentage of the revenues.
"The convenience store market is a logical frontier for Wi-Fi coverage," said Brad Cartwright, president of Transnet Wireless. "As the demand for Wi-Fi increases, so increases the demand for its placement in a convenient forum. Huck's innovative approach fits well with the Transnet Wireless Wi-Fi distribution model."
