Inside Wawa's Newest North Jersey Store

ELIZABETH, N.J. -- Local residents and fans of Wawa Inc. flocked together yesterday for the grand opening of the convenience store retailer's newest store in northern New Jersey.

Politicians, community members and Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 595 Spring St. location in Elizabeth, N.J. The event spotlighted Wawa's commitment to the local community through its "Lending a Helping Hoagie" campaign, as well as its partnerships with two local organizations -- Josephine's Place and Groundwork Elizabeth -- that will each receive $1,000 to support their programs.

In addition, Wawa donated $1,000 to the Elizabeth Police Department's chosen charity, One Fund Boston, to help victims of the Boston Marathon terrorist attack. The retailer also donated $1,000 to the fire department's chosen charity, the Sandy Ground Project, to help build playgrounds in areas affected by Superstorm Sandy.
