It’s Opening Day for the Sheetz Center for Shwellness
CLAYSBURG, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration for its new Sheetz Center for Shwellness today at 10 a.m. Located adjacent to the Sheetz Distribution Center, the facility will allow employees to improve their overall health while better managing their medical care costs, reported the Altoona Mirror.
"Sheetz has been voted by our employees as among the best places to work for more than a decade because we do everything we can to acknowledge their value and keep them happy in their jobs," said President and CEO Stan Sheetz in a statement. "We are proud to be able to invest in the lives of our team members across the company, and we hope the programs and services offered at the center will keep them on a path to healthier lifestyles."
The $3.5 million health and wellness center, first announced last year, was planned to occupy nearly 10,000 square feet and house a wellness center, fitness center and conference center, as CSNews Online previously reported.
Sheetz partnered with Vermont-based Marathon Health to provide on-site medical services. Services such as health assessments, lifestyle coaching and disease management services will allow employees to manage all facets of their health.
"Companies need to be proactive and create a culture where associates want to get healthy if the cost trends are going to bend. We are in business to do just that," said Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford when the center was announced. "We are ecstatic to have a company as well regarded as Sheetz on board who shares that vision with us."
All services are free of charge to eligible employees and dependents, according to the report.
