Kum & Go Adds Biodiesel to 28 Sites

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Kum & Go, a convenience store chain headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, was recently honored by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) for being a pioneer in the biofuel industry by adding a biodiesel blend to 28 retail locations in the state, reported Grainnet.com.

The project allows customers to purchase B2 -- a 2-percent biodiesel blend -- at the pump.

"Kum & Go has made a major commitment to biodiesel in Iowa," said Monte Shaw, IRFA executive director. "Today's announcement dramatically increases the retail biodiesel options for Iowa consumers. Coupled with their leading effort on E85, Kum & Go's commitment to renewable fuels is second to none. I think Iowans will sit up and take notice."

The chain has offered E85 to customers for a decade, and has five sites in Iowa that sell the blend, the report stated. Within the next year, that number is expected to double.

"Kum & Go is proud to be an active member of the renewable fuels industry that is dedicated to providing consumers effective fuel alternatives that also create development opportunities for the state of Iowa and the entire Midwest," said Kyle J. Krause, president and CEO of Kum & Go.
