Kum & Go Celebrates 50th Anniversary With $100,000 Giveaway

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Kum & Go is offering customers the chance to win more than $100,000 this summer as part of its "Summer of ‘59" promotion, which will award 59 customers a $1,000 Kum & Go gift card, and one winner will take home the grand prize of $50,000.

In-store customers will receive a unique code on their receipt when they make a purchase at Kum & Go locations. This code can be used to enter to win at kumandgo.com. Five $1,000 gift card winners will be selected and announced every Monday throughout the summer, and the $50,000 grand-prize winner will be announced Sept. 1.

"We are proud of our 50 years of quality service to our customers. In addition to the cash giveaway, we are also offering our customers 32-ounce drinks for the special price of 59 cents," said Kevin W. Krause, senior vice president of marketing for the convenience store chain. "The special prices and prizes are a way for us to say thank you, and we look forward to another 50 years of community partnership."

Kum and Go’s history can be traced back to 1959, when W.A. Krause and T.S. Gentle set out to meet the needs of a country that was quickly changing. "Two visionaries set out to create a fueling destination with a sense of ‘convenience,’ and today we celebrate being a leader in convenient retailing. We thank our patrons for their support and look forward to the next 50 years," Kyle J. Krause, president and CEO, said in a statement.

The family-owned company, which began in Hampton, Iowa, has grown to more than 400 convenience stores in 12 states—Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wyoming and Wisconsin. Kum & Go is the fifth largest privately-held convenience store chain in the U.S.
