Kum & Go Celebrates Expansion in Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A year after expanding its presence here, Kum & Go is reaching out to help the community, including launching a new fundraising effort to benefit Springfield school children, according to a report by

CEO Kyle Krause visited stores on the one-year anniversary of the company's purchase of 37 Cody's stores in the area, and announced the fundraising plans.

"We wanted to do something to thank Springfield, so on April 8, we are going to donate 3 cents per gallon of gas to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools," Krause said in the report, explaining all 41 Kum & Go stores in Springfield will participate. He also said based on normal sales, it would amount to about $8,000, the report stated.

The company also recently raised funds for Haiti earthquake victims, asking customers to make donations, which resulted in $60,000, and then added in another $20,000, according to the report.

Another fundraiser coming to a close is for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, where customers have the opportunity to pay $1 for a paper sneaker hung in the store. The fundraiser concludes at the end of the month, and so far raised roughly $72,500.

Additionally, Krause said it is the company's policy to donate 10 percent of its annual profits to charitable and educational causes each year, according to
