Kum & Go Deploys Construction Management Technology

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Kum & Go LC selected Projectmates by Systemates as its construction program management software. This central hub of project information, communication and workflow will help the chain overcome geographical distance between various projects and project teams.

The cloud-based Projectmates will allow Kum & Go to access and update critical project information from anywhere using any device that features an internet browser, including tablets and smartphones. Kum & Go will also be able to track estimated, committed, anticipated and actual costs in real time for one project or across its entire construction program, according to the announcement.

"Projectmates closely matched our needs to manage all the project data in one system," said Kum & Go Director of Construction Scott McGee. "Additionally, it was easy to utilize the system."

Previously, much of Kum & Go's project management was documented in separate spreadsheets, making coordination between project teams and timely propagation of changes cumbersome.

Document versioning is automatic in Projectmates, which lets users access both the latest and previous versions of drawings and specifications. Changes and project updates are communicated to the entire team through emails, individual ball-in-court tracking and program reporting.

West Des Moines-based Kum & Go is the fifth-largest privately held and company-operated convenience store chain in the United States. It operates 430 convenience stores in 11 states: Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming.
