Kum & Go Helps Feed Needy Families This Holiday Season
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Kum & Go recently raised more than $17,000 for the c-store's annual Victory Mission Thanksgiving Turkeys Fundraiser, KSPR.com reported. A check was presented to Springfield's Victory Mission, an organization that provides meals to needy families during the holiday season.
"Receiving a seventeen thousand six hundred dollar check all at once right now is this huge encouragement. It helps us maintain what we're doing catch up on some bills yes it's been a tough year we are behind on some bills and gives us real hope going into the end of the year," Rev. Jim Harriger, Springfield Victory Mission executive director told the news outlet.
Participating Kum & Go stores raised the money for the meals and to stock the mission's food pantry by selling cardboard turkeys to customers for $1. According to the news outlet, Kum & Go store No. 475 raised the most money, more than $6,000, and was granted the honor of presenting the check to Springfield Victory Mission on Dec. 14.
