Kum & Go Increases "Intelligent" Focus

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC, operator of more than 430 convenience stores headquartered here, is developing a new business intelligence (BI) department that will expand the BI function at the company, the convenience retailer stated. To that end, the company hired Terry Montgomery to head the project, joining Kum & Go as its vice president of business intelligence, the company stated.

"Terry will be a fundamental part of the Kum & Go team as he diligently works to build a new department," Kyle Krause, president and CEO, said in a statement. "His extensive knowledge of business operations, analysis and development will help shape not only the business intelligence area, but the entire company's way of doing business. Terry's direction and guidance will help us continue to uphold our standard as being the best in the industry when it comes to providing high-level, quality customer service."

The BI department will be responsible for creating a higher level of reporting and business analysis, which will lead to more accountable and enhanced customer service, Kum & Go stated.

Montgomery comes to the position after spending five years working on three major development projects in Iowa, according to the company. He also spent ten years working with Younkers and its parent organization, Saks Inc., in both senior vice president and vice president roles, the company stated.

Montgomery has also spent time as CFO of the Science Center of Des Moines, and played a key role in the building, creation and coordination of its new facility.

Montgomery also worked as a consultant for the Blank Park Zoo expansion and the Iowa DNR as project administrator with the Honey Creek Resort at Lake Rathbun project, the company stated.

"I am thrilled to begin working for such a high quality, top-notch company in the Des Moines area," Montgomery said in a statement. "I look forward to the challenges this position will provide me with and the opportunity to spearhead the creation of the business intelligence department."
