Kum & Go Participating in Pushlee App Launch

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC will implement the Pushlee mobile app at 42 of its convenience stores throughout Iowa. The mobile app helps gas stations promote offers and deals via "push" notifications.

According to Silicon Prairie News, customers who download the free mobile app from the Google Play Store receive a push notification for a promotion once they pull into a gas station. If interested in redeeming the deal, the customer goes inside the c-store and shows his or her smartphone to the cashier in order to receive the promotion.

Over time, Pushlee learns customer preferences and alters what push notifications it sends, although customers can choose to select the types of promotions they prefer to receive.

"Pushlee allows you to get the same perks as an individual gas station's app, but through an all-in-one consumer app," Blake Anderson, a college junior and co-founder of Pushlee, told the news outlet.

Anderson noted that Pushlee will likely add more than 100 gas stations to its network during the next month, and an Apple iOS version of the app is expected to be released in the coming weeks.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go LC operates more than 420 convenience stores and gas stations in 11 Midwest states. It is not yet known if the retailer will add the Pushlee mobile app to more of its stores.
