Kum & Go Raises $8K for Schools

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa. -- Kum & Go raised $8,000 through its Fuel Your School program for the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools in Iowa.

The company contributed 3 cents from every gallon of gas sold April 8, at 41 Springfield-area convenience store locations to the organization, which supports the Springfield Public Schools.

"We are very pleased to make this contribution to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools in appreciation of the district's teachers," said Kyle J. Krause, Kum & Go president and CEO, in a written release. "As a company, we strongly believe in giving back to the communities we serve. We are happy to assist the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools in all they do to help the students of this district."

According to Nancy Fazzino with the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools: "The community really came out and helped us get this contribution during a time when we are in need of funds," she said in a written release.

The foundation supports nearly 24,000 students in a variety of ways. It has an annual grant program, which awarded more than $150,000 in 2009 for classroom projects and equipment. In addition, the foundation has a voucher program that provided more than 300 winter coats and hundreds of clothing and hygiene items this school year.
