Kum & Go Shows Support to Storm Recovery in Arkansas

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum& Go is pitching in to help those residents in Arkansas devastated by severe storms earlier this week. For its part, the convenience store operator is donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross to be directed toward helping Arkansas recover.

According to Kyle J. Krause, company president and chief executive officer, the full magnitude of damage to the state probably will not be known for several weeks; Kum & Go wanted to proactively reach out and support the recovery efforts.

"Many of us have watched the local news coverage with sadness as massive tornadoes swept across the South," he said. "We believe it is important for Kum & Go to help Arkansas residents since we have more than 25 stores in the state. One of Kum & Go's seven core values is 'caring' and making this contribution to the American Red Cross is just another way to reinforce this value."

The powerful storms left a wake of devastation in its path as a series of tornadoes made its way across the southern part of the United States Wednesday night and Thursday morning. At least 300 people were killed in six states and hundreds more were injured, according to news reports.
