Kwik Trip Coffee Customers Pay it Forward
MARSHFIELD, Wis. -- Free coffee was an unexpected surprise when customers tried to pay for their cups Wednesday morning at the Kwik Trip here. One coffee customer handed the clerk $50 and said to use the change to pay it forward for others buying coffee.
Lori Nyen, of Marshfield, Wis., stopped to buy a cup of joe on her way to work, and told the Marshfield News-Herald she wished she had been paying attention to the woman in front of her because she was the one who gave the clerk the $50.
Nyen and said it was a surprise and an inspiration. "I'll be paying it forward too," she told the newspaper. "I think paying something forward is a good idea."
Other customers appreciated the free cup of coffee and donated money to keep the kindness going for almost two hours, said Mary Solberg, Kwik Trip cashier.
"One man gave me $10 and then another $1 and it kept going," she said, adding she's thinking of how she will pay something forward for others, too.
"There were a lot of happy faces here," she said. "It was nice all morning."
Reflecting on Wednesday morning, Kwik Trip store manager Kristy Bata said: "It shows that we go through a lot of coffee every morning, but it also shows that people do some really nice things and don't want any recognition."
