Liggett Launches Grand Prix Snus
MEBANE, N.C. -- Vector Group Ltd. subsidiary, Liggett Group, plans to introduce Grand Prix snus in a variety of test markets beginning in May 2008, the company stated.
Grand Prix snus -- a premium-quality pouched tobacco product at a value price -- is designed for adult smokers who are interested in smokeless tobacco alternatives, according to the company. The product will be available in three varieties -- Original, Spearmint and Wintergreen, the company stated.
"We have been watching the growth and development of the U.S. snus market with great interest over the past 18 months and believe there is a significant opportunity to introduce our own snus product and build on our highly successful Grand Prix tobacco franchise," Ronald J. Bernstein, president and CEO of Liggett Group, said in a statement.
Grand Prix snus will be available in select retail outlets in following areas:
-- Portland, Ore.
-- Kansas City, Mo.
-- Indianapolis
-- Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
-- Raleigh, N.C.
-- Orlando, Fla.
-- Columbus, Ohio
The product will be manufactured in Sweden under an agreement with Stockholm-based Snusab, a manufacturer of premium snus products, according to the company.
