Lil’ Reasor's Installs PepsiCo's Dream Machines

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Lil’ Reasor’s two convenience stores, in conjunction with the 15 stores of its grocery parent, Reasor’s, is encouraging consumers to recycle bottles and cans in PepsiCo Dream Machines now stationed outside its stores, according to supermarketnews.com.

PepsiCo's Dream Machine recycling initiative, created in partnership with Waste Management, was developed to support the manufacturer's goal of increasing the U.S. beverage container recycling rate from 34 percent to 50 percent by 2018.

“Reasor’s has long been committed to recycling, and the partnership with PepsiCo to host the Dream Machines in our stores will make it even easier for our customers to recycle,” Ken Perry, Reasor’s director of marketing, said in a statement. “Helping the environment, while also helping disabled U.S. veterans, is a winning combination.”

Reasor’s became the first grocery chain to install the computerized receptacles that include a personal reward system that allows consumers to collect and redeem points for each bottle or can they recycle.

As part of the Dream Machine Summer Recycling Challenge, PepsiCo will provide support to the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, a program offering free, training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans with disabilities.

Rite Aid has also signed on to the program, starting with 150 kiosks in its North Carolina locations.
