Lots of Buzz Planned Around National Coffee Day
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Coffee drinkers can get their buzz at convenience stores around the country this weekend as retailers mark National Coffee Day. The caffeinated holiday will be observed officially on Sunday, Sept. 29.
Tedeschi Food Shops kicked off the weekend with a free coffee offer for all customers. No coupon was needed for Friday's free coffee offer -- any size hot or iced. The Rockland, Mass.-based retailer's Facebook page features a coupon for the same offer valid through Monday.
Wawa Inc. will offer a free 16-ounce coffee in recognition of National Coffee Day. Like Tedeschi, the Wawa, Pa.-based retailer turned to social media to get the word out with a link to a coupon on its Facebook page.
Cary, N.C.-based Kangaroo Express will also celebrate National Coffee Day on Sept. 29 by offering 12-ounce cups of its Bean Street Coffee for just one penny at the chain's more than 1,550 locations, as CSNews Online previously reported. The convenience store retailer will brew up coffee deals all season long with its 2013 Roo Mug, available in stores starting Monday, Sept. 30. The reusable coffee mug retails for $6.99 plus tax and can be refilled for 50 cents plus tax through the end of March.
Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin' Donuts is getting in on the celebration as well with a mobile offer for a free small hot or iced coffee at participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout the United States. The offer is available and redeemable only on Sept. 29 through the "My Offers" tab of the Dunkin' app.
In addition, on Sept. 28 and 29, Dunkin' Donuts' 16-ounce packaged coffee will be available for a discounted price ($5.99) at participating locations and online while supplies last. Also on Sept. 28 and 29, guests can purchase Dunkin' Donuts K-Cup packs at a special price of $7.99 for a 14-count box. The offer is available at participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants nationwide while supplies last, with a limit of two per customer.
"As the nation's coffee leader, National Coffee Day is one of our favorite days of the year and a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize the important role our coffee plays in keeping millions of our guests running all day, every day," said John Costello, Dunkin' Brands president of global marketing and innovation. "We are very much looking forward to celebrating this holiday by thanking our loyal guests through our mobile offer for a free cup of our famous coffee, special discounts on our packaged coffee and K-Cup packs, and other exciting National Coffee Day programs still to come."
