Love's Expands Its Commitment to CNG

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores will add fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling capacity for heavy-duty trucks at its Amarillo, Texas, travel stop, located at Interstate 40 at exit 74. The fast-fill CNG station is expected to open during the second quarter of this year.

"Our expansion signifies the natural progression of working with fleets interested in the fuel-cost savings offered by Love's fast-fill CNG," said Jon Archard, director of fleet sales at Love's. "Professional drivers filling up with CNG see a $2 savings per gallon equivalent [vs.] diesel. That economic edge creates an incentive for fleets to look into the viability of fast-fill CNG."

Fast-fill CNG is designed to allow a professional driver to fill up their vehicle at a rate of at least 10 gallons per minute. Therefore, a 100-gallon tank could be refueled in 10 minutes or less.

Love's recently added fast-fill CNG to eight locations that span highways between Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Once fast-fill CNG is available in Amarillo, the option will be available at a total of 11 Love's travel stops in Oklahoma and Texas.

Oklahoma City-based Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores operates more than 310 locations in 39 states.
