Love's Increases Fundraising for Children's Miracle Network

01/10/2010
SALT LAKE CITY -- Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores increased its fundraising for Children's Miracle Network -- a non profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children's hospitals -- 7 percent compared to 2008, the company reported, marking the 11th year of working with the organization.

"We are proud to continue our support of Children's Miracle Network, and to have raised more than last year is a testament to our team members' efforts and our customers' generosity," said Love's director of communications, Jenny Love Meyer, in a released statement.

Each fall, Love's invites its customers to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network through in-store purchases of heart icons each valued at $1, $5 or $25. The company also raised funds by holding bake sales, pumping gas for tips, conducting in-store drawings and coordinating other fundraising events.

Like all Children's Miracle Network fundraisers, the proceeds from Love's heart sales will help fund medical care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of 17 million children treated at Children's Miracle Network hospitals each year, the company reported.

"The support Children's Miracle Network receives from Love's and its associates is vital to help us provide much-needed funds to children's hospitals," said Brian Hazelgren, chief development officer, Children's Miracle Network. "The generosity and dedication of Love's associates and customers is far reaching and will have a profound impact on the lives of many children and their families."
