Lykins Oil Fuels Growth in Kentucky

MILFORD, Ohio -- Lykins Cos., which represents five major fuel brands and is one of the largest petroleum marketing companies in its region, announced that it has purchased Paul R. Wilson Oil Co. Inc., based in London, Ky.

"With Lykins as the new owner of Paul R. Wilson Oil Co., customers will have expanded fuel options, including alternative fuels like E-85 and nexsol Biodiesel Supreme. Area gas stations and convenience stores will now have the choice of Shell, BP, Marathon, Exxon/Mobil and Clark brands, as well as unbranded fuel. And residential customers will now be able to get their home heating oil and other petroleum products from Lykins," Lykins Cos. president Jeff Lykins said in a written statement.

Paul R. Wilson Oil is the second company that Lykins has purchased in London; the company bought Curry Oil Co. last year. Over the past year, Lykins also has purchased Hamilton Oil Co. in Georgetown, Ky., as well as J&L Equipment and Oil Co. and DeBoard Oil Co., both located in Mount Vernon, Ky. These acquisitions continue to fuel Lykins' expansion in Kentucky and its future growth, the company said.

"This is very exciting for me and our customers," added Mike Hamm, son-in-law of Paul R. Wilson, company founder. Hamm joined the business in 1970 and will stay on under the new ownership and serve as central Kentucky operations manager.

"This will be a seamless transition, with our staff and location remaining the same. Customers won't notice any change in that regard," Hamm continued.

Lykins Oil is a family-owned and -operated business, headquartered in Milford, Ohio. The company serves customers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, as well as throughout the Midwest and the Southeast U.S. It provides five key services: branded fuels, wholesale fuels, commercial, transportation and home heating oil. The company represents five major fuel brands: BP, Marathon, ExxonMobil, Shell and Clark.
