Marathon Ashland Partners With RetailersMarketXchange

Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC., with a marketing network of 6,000 locations, has signed a multi-year contract with Concord, Calif.-based RetailersMarketXchange (RMX) to build a communications infrastructure that will let Marathon communicate with its jobbers and dealers.

The software and services package will enable the parent company to communicate product prices to
Its branded members, along with providing business transaction records, promotion announcements and other brand-related information in a more timely and efficient manner.

RMX, which provides a similar service to Chevron Corp., will also deliver an open marketplace for retailers to communicate and transact business with their suppliers and distributors of non-fuel merchandise.

"This represents a significant step forward in using the power of the Internet to enhance communications with our brand marketing customers and reflects our commitment to provide them with leading edge business solutions," said Mary Ellen Peters, MAP's senior vice president of marketing."

RMX President Nancy Reyda added, "The addition of MAP to our customer base is an important milestone for RMX. The commitment of major suppliers like MAP demonstrates market confidence in RMX software and services for the gasoline and convenience retailing channel."

RMX provides independent retailers easy, timely, and reliable access to their suppliers. User-specific information is available online, in a password protected environment, through a single sign-on. RMX enhances communications and commerce among retail chains, suppliers and distributors through this technology and its related support services.
