NACS To Host Conference Call on Wal-Mart Settlement

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The claims process for either agreeing to or disputing the estimated damage amounts resulting from the settlement in the Wal-Mart litigation against Visa and MasterCard has been extended until Dec. 28, 2005. In part, the extension is to allow retailers more time to deal with the claims process, which has caused some confusion, a NACS article reported.

NACS has secured Jeff Shinder of Constantine Cannon, the law firm that represented retailers in the case, to participate in a "members only" conference call to answer all of the questions retailers may have about the forms they are receiving. NACS is spearheading this initiative due to the fact many members have called with questions regarding the process. Furthermore, the conference call will facilitate consistent answers from an expert on the claims process.

The conference call is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28 at 2:00 p.m. EST. To take maximum advantage of the call, retailers should have handy both the VM1 and VM2 claim forms and instructions they have received, as well as Internet access in order to access the Web site where Shinder will be conducting a demonstration.
