New Association Unites Independent C-store Owners
MILPITAS, Calif. -- A new association for independent gasoline and convenience store owners is taking root in California, with plans to expand nationally.
The American Petroleum and Convenience Store Association (APCA) is a grassroots organization that formed late last year. It provides representation to small and medium-sized enterprises, filling a need previously unmet, according to founding members.
APCA's main goal is to improve the business environment and community relations of independent c-store retailers and become a resource for its members in all their business transactions. The association will also provide information on legislative and regulatory policy at the state and federal levels, along with updates for members on issues that affect members daily and directly.
In addition, APCA will serve as a link between its members and vendors to get better pricing and build stronger relationships.
"Our goal is nothing less than providing an excellent platform for our members," said Jag Kapoor, chairman of APCA. "With our collective experience in the convenience store industry, we feel that we can provide needed services and information in a timely manner to our members, which will serve to increase their bottom line."
Jivtesh Gill, APCA spokesman and executive vice chairman of the National Coalition of Associations of 7-Eleven Franchisees, added that the association will fill a niche in the industry.
