New Store Brands Event Will Tackle Transparency

ORLANDO, Fla. — More than ever before, consumers want information about the products they buy. Not only do they want the lowdown on all the ingredients or raw materials, but they also want to know where they were sourced. Plus, they want more visibility into the supply chain in terms of manufacturing practices, social and environmental responsibility, and more.

Just as manufacturers are under pressure to increase transparency around their branded products, retailers are under the same pressure to do so in relation to their store brand products.

Convenience Store News sister publication Store Brands will tackle the topic of transparency during its 2016 Innovation & Collaboration Summit, scheduled for Aug. 15-17 in Orlando.

During a panel discussion entitled "The Push for Transparency: A Challenge and an Opportunity," executives from Albertsons LLC, Supervalu Inc. and other leading retailers will talk about the unique transparency challenges within the store brand arena. They also will examine how some of those challenges could be addressed with the help of private brand suppliers and service providers — to the benefit of both shoppers and retailers' own-brand programs.

As previously reported, Stagnito Business Information + Edgell Communications, parent company of Convenience Store News and Store Brands, are combining the best elements of Store Brands' Innovation & Marketing Summit with those of Store Brands' Collaboration Summit to bring the private-brand industry an exciting new event this year: Store Brands' Innovation & Collaboration Summit.

The event will be held at Orlando’s Hyatt Grand Cypress hotel, where attendees will learn how to identify untapped or under-tapped private brand opportunities, achieve greater profitability and faster time to market, and forge mutually beneficial collaborative partnerships. In addition to transparency, sessions will cover topics ranging from sustainability to European success stories, to regulatory challenges and omnichannel opportunities.

In addition, the event will provide opportunities for private meetings between retailers and private label suppliers/service providers, and plenty of networking time for everyone.
