NexStore Concept Hits the Road
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- While only one NexStore exists currently, look for them to pop up on local corners, as creator Bill Knight plans to franchise his convenience store concept in the South Florida area, reported the Boca Raton News.
NexStore combines convenience and variety with a store that offers gas, a convenience store, a gourmet food-to-go shop, a dine-in area for neighboring businesses, a deli and a pastry shop. The store is located off a highway in Boca Raton, Fla.
There is one problem with the concept -- only one exists. But that will change. "Due to numerous requests, NexStore is now offering franchise opportunities in South Florida," Knight told the newspaper.
The new outlets will be called NexStore Express and "will serve today’s fast-paced working professionals with quick, convenient, home-style, healthy alternatives to fast food -- at affordable prices.”
Knight is not new to the convenience industry. He created the first combination gas station and convenience store in Florida in 1969, the report stated. Since then, he has stayed close to the industry, looking for places to improve.
NexStore features many of those improvements, including a generator for power during or after hurricanes and an outdoor cafe at one end to offer an eating place for employees of local businesses.
"The flagship in Boca Raton will serve as the commissary, producing the gourmet food for the NexStore Express outlets being developed in Palm Beach and Broward counties," he said. "We believe this will provide our franchise owners with enormous competitive advantage. By eliminating the expertise and labor required to prepare the food, they will be able to focus their attention completely on the operational and customer service aspects of the business."
Other commissaries will be used for additional stores in Miami-Dade and Martin counties, he added.
"Our strategy is to open fully staffed, state-of-the-art NexStore Express franchise outlets throughout South Florida and the Treasure Coast," he said. "We know that there is a demand for high quality, ready-to-serve gourmet food in every neighborhood, and we're here to meet that demand. We have created the recipe for success by knowing what consumers need and want. We are ready to pass that along to franchisees looking for a one-of-a-kind opportunity in the foodservice industry."
The NexStore Express' will be 3,000 square feet, and will house the Chef's Showcase, which features more than 30 chef-created gourmet meals and a grab-and-go display. Stores will also offer a bakery, cafe, deli, grill sushi bar, salad bar and Chinese station.
"We tapped the home meal replacement market and are taking it to the next level," said Rodger Bowles, executive chef and chief operating officer. "NexStore was created in response to the growing need for healthy, quality meals that are ready to serve."
