Nice N Easy Manager Wins $25,000

NEW YORK -- At its recent holiday luncheon for corporate managers and staff, Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, Inc., of Canastota, N.Y. announced the winners of the 2006 Managers' Contest.

In previous years, the grand prize had been a new vehicle, but this year it was $25,000. The winner was Rachel Henry, manager of the chain's Tully store.

Runner up for two years, Rachel was glad the third time was the charm. "It's a thrill to be in the running for the prize, but it sure can be a nerve-wracking day," said Henry.

The contest is comprised of rankings from the corporate manager's report card -- a monthly balanced scorecard that includes margin growth, labor control, cash and inventory control and image factors.

"We always arrange the scoring so that ultimately the winner is determined by the mystery shopper score," said Fran Duskiewicz, senior executive vice president of Nice N Easy. "This year, Rachel's performance was so dominating that she could not be denied."

The $3000 second place prize went to Jeff Chatigny of Montezuma, the $2000 third place cash to David Gee of Waterloo, and the $1000 to Theresa Chavious of the Taunton (Syracuse) store.
