Oil Companies Respond to Subpoenas
ORLANDO, Fla. -- State Attorney General Charlie Crist said seven of eight oil companies subpoenaed in May responded to his request to submit information about the cost, production, inventory and pricing of gasoline in Florida, reported the Orlando Business Journal.
One company, Motiva Enterprises LLC (Shell), asked for an extension of the deadline and was given until July 30.
Crist issued the subpoenas to investigate Florida's rising gas prices, which he said in March averaged $1.74 per gallon.
The companies that responded are BP Products North America Inc., Chevron USA Inc., Citgo Petroleum Corp., Conoco-Phillips Co., Exxon Mobil Corp., Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC and Amerada Hess Corp.
As of today, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in Florida is $1.94 a gallon, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
