Oxxo to Open First U.S. Convenience Store

EAGLE PASS, Texas -- Oxxo, the largest convenience store chain in Latin America, will open its first U.S. convenience store in Eagle Pass, Texas, a city that houses a large Hispanic community, according to a KamCity.com report.

The store will open in May in an existing commercial center. The Monterrey, Mexico-based company did not say how much it plans to invest in the store. This move follows the chain's entry into the U.S. market through the conversion of a coffee shop in Douglas, Ariz., to its banner.

Oxxo denied that the Eagle Pass store is part of a planned expansion into the United States, according to the news outlet.
