Parker’s to Sponsor Savannah’s Picnic in the Park
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Parker Cos. will be the presenting sponsor for Picnic in the Park 2014, set to take place in Savannah's Forsyth Park on Oct. 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Picnic in the Park is just one of the celebrations the Georgia city will host to honor National Arts and Humanities Month, and will feature an evening of live music headlined by the Savannah Philharmonic. Additional performances will be announced in the future.
“We’re delighted to sponsor Picnic in the Park again this year,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Cos., parent company of Parker's convenience stores. “We enjoy giving back to Savannah and are truly honored to sponsor this iconic cultural event.”
Picnic in the Park is free and open to the general public. It is a longstanding Savannah tradition, dating back to the 1980s.
“Parker’s has been a strong community partner with a real commitment to supporting our city’s culture,” said Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson. “We are deeply grateful for their continued support of Picnic in the Park.”
The Parker Cos. operates 34 convenience stores in Georgia and South Carolina. The c-store retailer expects to open two more locations this month.
