7-Eleven Inc. chief information officer Keith Morrow is a winner of the CIO 100 award from CIO magazine, which recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. Last year, 7-Eleven was distinguished with a CIO 100 Award for its resourceful IT management and practices.

Since taking the top technology job at 7-Eleven in January 2001, Morrow established an investment-portfolio approach to initiatives in order to focus efforts on activities that would give the company high returns. He reorganized the company's retail information system development around a rapid time-to-market model creating more predictable costs and more real-time information for the company's stores, key decision-makers and suppliers.

"We are honored to be included among the 'Agile 100,' and for the public recognition of Keith and his team's achievements," said 7-Eleven president and CEO Jim Keyes. "Our commitment to the convenience-oriented consumer drives us to develop avenues of connecting with consumers so that we can provide the right product at the right time. We believe technology will deliver those results."

In other news, CashWorks Inc. has named Will Sowell its new general manager. CashWorks, part of GE Consumer Finance, provides its automated check-cashing solution at more than 3,000 convenience and grocery stores across the United States.

"Will's leadership skills, his passion for business growth and his ability to energize people make him the perfect choice for this role," said Marc Sheinbaum, president and CEO of GE Consumer Finance's money services unit. "His strong operations background will be a tremendous asset in expanding the CashWorks offering to retailers and meeting the needs of consumers who don't use traditional banks."

Sowell joined GE in 1998 and has extensive experience developing online apply-and-buy capabilities, e-service and e-bill functionality. He most recently served as vice president of strategic initiatives for GE Consumer Finance-Americas.
