NEW YORK - Dallas-based 7-Eleven Inc., which operates or franchises approximately 5,800 convenience stores in the United States, announced that Paul G. Rostron joined the company as senior vice president in its human resources area, reporting to 7-Eleven's president and CEO, Jim Keyes. He will oversee all aspects of the company's human resource function, including staffing, compensation and benefits, training and organizational development.

Rostron, 42, joins 7-Eleven from FedEx Kinko's, where he served as executive vice president and chief people officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for leading the company's human resources, corporate communications and other administrative functions. Rostron was instrumental in Kinko's being named to Fortune magazine's "100 Best Places to Work" for two consecutive years.

Prior to joining FedEx Kinko's, Rostron held senior human resource positions at Gateway Inc., and Abbott Laboratories Inc. He started his career at Montgomery Ward and has worked in the human resource field for more than 20 years.

"Paul's expertise and experience in building and leading world-class human resource organizations will be a significant benefit to our company," said Keyes. "Paul's understanding of large, multi-unit retail organizations like 7-Eleven will aid in advancing the development of our 30,000-plus employees and allow us to continue to strengthen the 7-Eleven brand."
