Wilson Farms Inc., which currently operates 198 convenience store and gas station locations across New York, recently announced three new additions to its leadership team. Bill Anello has joined the company as director of perishables and foodservice; John Jones has been hired as manager of MIS; and Tom Heine has been appointed as director of merchandising and procurement.

As director of perishables and foodservice, Anello will use his expertise in the food industry to oversee Wilson Farms perishable field specialists and assist with the development of new products and procedures. As part of his job, Anello will develop training programs for perishable/foodservice associates and food safety programs for Wilson Farms. He will also be responsible for the new Wilson Farms store interior and exterior layout and redesign. Anello joins Wilson Farms after nearly 28 years in the retail grocery industry. He was previously employed at Tops Markets Inc.

As manager of MIS, Jones will use his background and experience in the technology sector to manage Wilson Farms' information services, including servers, corporate and store computers, internet security and POS technology. Jones joins Wilson Farms after spending nearly seven years in the information technology industry. He previously worked at CBE Inc., where he was a regional service manager.

As director of merchandising and procurement, Heine will supervise the category management process and product procurement with Wilson Farms' numerous suppliers. He is also responsible for overseeing all Wilson Farms category managers. Heine joins the Wilson Farms team with more than 30 years experience in the grocery retail industry. He spent seven years with Tops Markets Inc., where he was accountable for directing a team responsible for 159 Tops Markets in New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In other retailer news, BP has appointed Michael E. Carr as national franchise manager for recruiting for BP America. In this role, he is responsible for multiple franchisee recruiting initiatives, including the business development and growth of BP’s U.S. Convenience Operations, with a special emphasis on recruiting minority franchisees.

Based in San Francisco, Carr will lead BP's recruiting for the company's U.S. franchising operation, which includes BP Connect stores east of the Rockies and ARCO am/pm convenience stores that serve 24 million customers a month in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. He’s also directly responsible for business development in northern California, Oregon, and Washington. This includes developing new-to-market c-stores, re-branding existing stores, and purchasing existing operations.

A BP employee for more than ten years, Carr previously managed 21 franchise sites through BP's U.S. Retail Business Operations. He has also worked in a range of management capacities and divisions including BP's International Aviation business (Air BP) in Chicago, London, and Houston and BP Chemicals in Chicago.

In supplier news, FACTOR, a division of W.R. Hess Co., announced the hiring of Cheryl Raines as support representative. In this position, she will assist the FACTOR Customer Services team in the support and maintenance of the ExecuTrak business management system for all FACTOR users.

Raines is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a B.B.A. in Business Management and Management Information Systems, emphasizing human resources and database management. Prior to joining FACTOR, she held a position as materials management analyst for a communications network corporation.

In other supplier news, DTN announced that it has hired Heather Killough as national sales director for supplier solutions. Killough will focus on developing opportunities for end-to-end supplier transaction management solutions. She is also tasked with improving efficiencies in fuel suppliers’ pricing and customer communication, along with management of customer credit, and product and exchange allocations.

Based in Houston, Killough began her business-to-business sales and marketing career in 1991 in the oil and gas industry. Recently, Killough served as vice president of sales and marketing for The Pinnacle Corporation and was responsible for developing and implementing major strategic and tactical initiatives to grow large client accounts.
